Green Homes Grant

Builders, plumbers, and other tradespeople across England will need a government-backed seal of approval to provide their services as part of the new £2 billion Green Homes Grant going live at the end of September.

Under the new Government’s Green Homes Grant scheme, all energy-saving improvements carried out must be completed by a TrustMark registered accredited business, giving householders quality assurance.

Later this month, homeowners in England can check eligibility for vouchers worth up to two-thirds of the cost of hiring tradespeople to upgrade the energy efficiency of their home – the maximum contribution will be £5,000, or for those on lower incomes, a 100% grant up to £10,000 will be available for certain work.

Homeowners will be able to use the vouchers to install one or more of the following:

o Solid wall, under-floor, cavity wall or roof insulation
o Air source or ground source heat pumps
o Solar thermal systems
o Double or triple glazing/secondary glazing
o Energy efficient doors
o Hot water tanks/appliance tank thermostats/heating controls
